Road trips have always been a highlight for our family, so my husband and I recently decided to embark on a 4,400-km, 2-week road trip through South Africa with our children. It was an incredible experience and a road trip I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to explore some of what South Africa has to offer.

Day 1:

Gauteng to Hythelands House, Mooi River

Take the scenic route along Prince Alfred’s Pass from Knysna to Uniondale.

Day 11:

Travel from Ribboksfontein to Rainbow Glen Montagu, Western Cape

Halfway stop – the famous Ronnie’s Sex Shop, or at any of the quaint eateries in Barrydale

Day 12:

Montagu to Sutherland, Northern Cape

Halfway stop – pack a picnic and stop off somewhere in the middle of nowhere :)

Day 13:

Sutherland to Honingkrats Guest Farm, Graaf Reinet, Eastern Cape (stay for 2 days)

Halfway stop – Beaufort West

Day 15:

Graaf Reinet to Bloemfontein Free State
