    Hope After Diagnosis

Your Infertility Options Having struggled myself trying to fall pregnant for 6 years (I know you wouldn’t think that having 5 children of my own). I found the hope and information that this article gives, inspiring.  You’re dreaming of the perfect family, but your fertility doctor has just given you the news. You will likely need a donor egg in order to achieve success. You feel deflated, drained, and wonder whether you’ll ever achieve your dream of being a mom. Despite trying traditional IVF and still struggling to conceive, there are successful options available to you.  Including using an egg donor. The egg donation process is much easier to coordinate…

    An early morning hijack…

This all feels pretty clandestine, but I promise it is with good intentions! I am hijacking my incredible wife’s blog for a second because I have something quite precious to share with you – about her – that I know she would be far too modest to ever talk about. I’ll keep it brief, since she’ll be heading downstairs any second… Right now she is upstairs dressing the kids. Daisy is screaming “blue murder”, because she is sick and has become more clingy to her mom than a koala to a eucalyptus tree – so when mom is busy with the others and not holding her it means it’s the…

Yes, I’m talking to You, unfriendly Mom.

Some parents just baffle me.             Yes, I have friendly kids. And if you can’t deal with that, quite frankly, that’s your loss! You see, I’m trying to raise good human beings here. So yes, I’ve taught my kids to greet adults, because it’s respectful to do. I’ve taught them to include other kids in their play, because it’s kind and it’s a part of raising considerate, empathetic children.  I’ve taught them to say please, and thank you (even though they might need to be reminded from time to time) because decent manners are the building blocks of a good character. And, the last time…

Life with a toddler is never dull, not a boring moment to be had… Here’s my theory: I think we parents belong unknowingly to a Tactical SWAT team of parenthood. Just before our little ones enter their toddler years we get whisked away to some mysterious location, and trained in the art of Surviving Toddler-hood. But then we’re given a serum that ensures no memory of this tactical training. Seriously, how else do we survive the antics of toddlers…? Maybe I just sub-consciously imagine myself as  Angeline Jolie in the Tomb Raider as I expertly maneuver my way through yards of barbed wire… OK, Lego, it’s just Lego, but it’s…

    Tattooed Mom

When I was 18, I decided to get a tattoo. I know that, in some circles, the issue of tattoo’s are still a “taboo” subject of conversation. I also understand that people have their own opinions (as do I) and that these can be quite fervent when it comes to the question of whether tattoos are ok. This is a potentially emotive subject… First of all, it seems to me that we mothers have a real penchant for judging one another about almost anything; we judge each other about whether we breastfeed or not, how we gave birth, if we feed pureed homemade food or shop bought food, whether or…
